Los Angeles & Beyond – Halloween Guide 2021
Halloween is here–and horror is back in the form of haunted houses, immersive horror experiences, and traditional theater. After last year’s socially distanced Halloween, we can finally walk down narrow corridors smelling of fog and latex while actors jump out and narratives crawl under our skin. With a year off, so many companies have come back strong, with some of their best offerings yet. Here, Haunting offers you our 2021 Halloween Guide to help you make the most of your season and not miss a single event.
Please keep in mind that, due to current state restrictions, some events will require advanced reservations or tickets.
We will be updating this guide regularly as new events are announced. If you know of any events that we should add, send us an email and let us know!

This Halloween, The Hallway welcomes new travelers at the Sherry Theater in North Hollywood, CA.
Built by the enigmatic Mr. Hallway himself (at a date still unknown to scholars), this mysterious Hallway is said to traverse worlds, galaxies, space, time, and other hallways. Some speculate that it goes on forever; others speculate that it has yet to begin. It is said to play home to a nearly endless array of lost souls, curious creatures, and wandering fancies.
Travelers with the heart to face the Hallway head on will encounter its citizens one by one, from the curious to the carnivorous, and experience a world unlike any Hallway they have seen before. All things are possible in the hallway, for the hallway goes all ways, but be warned: No one who has entered the Hallway has ever found their way out.
ALL HALLWAYS EVE: A HALLOWEEN HALLWAY EXPERIENCE is a surreal, fantastical, and eerie immersive experience perfect for those seeking the stranger side of things this Halloween. The show is an immersive walkthrough theatrical experience in which guests will be admitted in small groups, and will be required to be on their feet for the duration of the experience. Guests will sign a release of liability before entering the theater.

This year, guests will find themselves in a multitude of surprising worlds including a lush and sultry bar, a desolate town-square populated with odd characters, and a world-warping haunted house with a mind of its own.

The vanguard of interactive horror theatre presents: Reaper’s Remorse.
There are some dead that won’t let go. Clutching to this world by whatever threads they can find. Pretty red shoes. A shotgun. A loved one left behind. And although these strands of life can be as innocent as a child’s toy… everything has its price. A price only Esther Phillips can afford.
She lives alone. A solemn collector surrounded by artifacts that not only tell tales, but carry the very souls they’re tied to. An ethereal prison of those unwilling to let go.
Esther’s latest acquisition may be her greatest yet… if she would only go near. Fear, anger and regret bleed from it. Things decay, but memories can linger.
A rare invitation has been extended to you, fellow lovers of the occult. An exclusive evening to play your part in the haunting and epic story of Esther Phillips.
There are some dead that won’t let go, and there are others that must make them.

Beginning in 1995, the Historical Society of Long Beach has conducted an annual living history tour at the city’s two oldest cemeteries. Located on Willow Street between Orange and California and adjacent to one another, Long Beach Municipal Cemetery and Sunnyside Cemetery are “home” to more than 20,000 past residents of the area.
The tour features graveside presentations by professional and volunteer actors who relate the life and demise of the person lying in rest. Each year’s program features a number of stories – some are individuals who helped shape the city’s political past, others are ordinary people whose tales remind us that rich or poor, famed or nearly forgotten, everyone has a story to tell. Period costumes worn by all the performers further heighten the experience with an aura of authenticity. Many guests get so involved in the presentation that questions like “What was it like to live here in 1920?” are often asked of the performers.
This one-of-a-kind living history event provides an amazing opportunity to remember the lesser-known and well-known figures in Long Beach history.
Dates: Oct 30
Times: 8:30am-3pm (Ticket Sales end at 12pm)
Price: $1-$25
Location: Sunnyside Cemetery (1095 E Willow St, Long Beach, CA 90806)
You’re summoned into a Hollywood bar owned and operated by the Queen Vamp of Hollywood, Theda Bara. She insists her human staff all be sultry hot, and her vampire children all behave for their human guests… and for the most part they do.
Guests get the opportunity to mingle with vampires, some of whom seem friendly, some of whom are less so… but from the very beginning, this bar doesn’t seem as safe as you’ve been led to believe, whispers of a torture chamber in the kitchen and nightly ritual killings, is this just a feeding ground for vampires you’ve foolishly walked straight into? But the drinks are delicious and the atmosphere’s forbidden alure is too intoxicating to deny…
You’re invited into the theatre for a show, despite your better judgement, you journey beyond the curtain and find yourself locked in. The music starts and it’s like being front row on the Strip in the 80s while Guns N Roses and Mötley Crüe shredded away in tiny clubs and you think to yourself… maybe this isn’t too bad. But then one vampire attacks someone, then another, before you know it the entire room is in a frenzy of vampires fighting vampires and you’re just caught in the middle. When the sun rises you only hope you can walk out into the warm air and breathe it in, but that’s not guaranteed.

Hallows Eve Inc presents Deadwater State Penitentiary at the Launch Pointe and bringing you the thrill of a lifetime. A great family fun entertainment with a full walkthrough haunted attraction and nightly shows starting just after dark!
Welcome to Dead Water State Penitentiary. Once the home of the most notorious and violent criminals, Dead Water was forced to close in 1963 when word leaked out of the wardens’ most evil and nefarious methods of correction. Heinous methods of torture were found out to be more prevalent and common than not. Shortly after its closure, the prison was purchased and secretly run by an anonymous source who once again assured the public things would be different. Dead Water’s reputation started to recover until the fall of 1965 when Dr. Dipshit became hired on as chief medical surgeon who had other intentions for human suspects that society disregarded and who would not be missed outside these cold, layered brick walls. Prisoners were sent to Dead Water under the guise of promised rehabilitation, however, the doctor, being slightly mad himself, chose to experiment on the inmates like lab rats. His goal: to create a viable, insanely disturbed army of clowns he controlled to overtake the prison guards and wreak havoc on the public at large. Tip from the warden: steer clear of the Dr. at all cost.

Prepare to be scared. This October, Vegas Fright Nights returns to Opportunity Village for its second season with more gore than ever before. This year’s event boasts three uniquely frighteningly themed haunts:
BLOOD BARN: This rickety barn is plagued by death and despair and the good ol’ boys who run the show are making sure it stays that way. They’ve thrown the pitchforks and hatchets to the side and are opting for a tool guaranteed to make you squeal for your life. You might hear them coming, but don’t be so sure you’ll get away with all your pieces – or sanity – intact. These chainsaw-wielding maniacs are not about to let you just walk out the front door. Around these parts, the saw IS the law.
NIGHTMARE MANOR: Nightmare Manor is the place where evil resides. And lucky for you, this Victorian home happens to have a vacancy. Do you remember the days of playing with the Ouija Board and mouthing Bloody Mary in the bathroom mirror? Well, the time has come for the demonic spirits you beckoned to entertain their new houseguest. They’ve been pacing these haunted halls eagerly awaiting your arrival. Won’t you join them for all eternity? Better splash on some holy water before you enter this one. Oh, and don’t stare at those paintings too long…
CLOWN INVASION IN 3D: Step into our colorful funhouse where sinister clowns are dying to show you a good time. As you embark on a journey of giggles and gore, this 3D experience promises to show you a whole new dimension of evil. The clowns you’ll encounter here are lurking through the chaotic mazes and the demented ball pits, so trust us when we say that you’ll need to keep your wits about you if you don’t want to become a part of the circus.
