I was going to do an in-depth review of the The Fear Experiment 2023 show Bedtime Stories, but there is not much more that I can add that hasn’t already been said in the last review.  As with all of these types of experiences, it is personal.  You end up walking away with a new perspective and understanding of life.  Days go by and you are still noticing details of the story that you did not notice initially.  Since the majority of the event has already been said, this is just going to be bits and pieces added and my feelings of the show.

Here we are again making the 5.5 hour drive to an undisclosed location in Illinois.  After all the traffic, the drive is actually quite nice.  That is until you get closer and closer.  You realize you are heading towards the middle of nowhere.  Cornfields and occasional roads are the view.  This is how horror movies begin.  You know what happens out here?  People get whacked by the mob or stalked by a serial killer, either way shallow graves are dug.  But I keep on driving hoping that the strangers I entrusted with my life don’t kill me.  (Joking aside The Fear Experiment 2023 crew is nothing but professional with safety being a number one concern.)

Once I arrive at the location, the other participants roll in at the same time.  Not a moment goes by until a car pulls up and a gentleman gets out of the car.  Here comes the hoods over our heads so we do not know where we are going.  We are off to location.

From this point forward the last review detailed what happens.  Here are some quick pieces from my perspective.

I am Timmy.  Timmy is hated by father.  Father likes to choke Timmy.  Mommy attempted to drown Timmy while he was bobbing for apples.  Timmy had to experience a house fire.  (I am intentionally not going to go into detail on this to preserve the integrity of the story.  This was Timmy and only Timmy’s experience)

The Fear Experiment 2023 knocked it out of the park with this production.  Standing ovation for the whole crew.  I never once felt like I wasn’t safe.  Every tiny detail was accounted for.  Every line, movement, moment had a particular meaning.  From beginning to end I was completely immersed in the story.  The actors were amazing in every possible way.  This is a show that will stick with me forever.  If you have not seen one of their productions, I highly recommend it.  I know I will be seeing every show they do from this moment forward…
