More on STAG
Stag: An Immersive Horror Experiment aims to fill a void. In an area of the country severely lacking with extreme/immersive haunts, Stag stands alone as Michigan’s premiere and longest standing immersive show. Starting in 2016, and now in it’s 8th show cycle, Stag began out of necessity. “I’d sit at my 9 to 5 reading jaded haunted house reviews. Then I came across articles on Blackout…. I yearned to experience something like that but with life constraints in the form of kids and school, traveling wasn’t really an option. So, with some input from my cohorts, I decided to do the next best thing and bring an immersive show to the Midwest myself,” says creator Blayne Adams.
Focusing on modern-day real-life horrors, Stag is narrative and participant driven. Participation is a must as many scenes are just victim and actor. Dialogue is encouraged and expected; this is not a solely voyeuristic experience. Topics run the gamut of personal and realistic traumas: addiction, abuse, religion, and sexual taboos. Participants can expect to experience physical contact, complete darkness, sensory deprivation, nudity, extreme thematic material, tight spaces, and electricity.
Most shows run in the summer and are typically a 30 min experience with extreme elements and physical contact. In 2019, Stag began running a winter series, PRVT. With PRVT, the company ramps up the intensity, aggression, and length, with shows pushing the two-hour mark. PRVT is invitation only, and has a very limited run, with only a handful of participants a night over one weekend. Be wary ye who enter here; the private show is for experienced haunt goers. You have been warned.
