More on Stash House

Stash House was created by Los Angeles based filmmakers Don DeLeon and Tommy Honton. Writing together since 2009, Don and Tommy wanted to bring their story-telling sensibilities and knack for interesting twists to the escape room world. In 2015, Don and Tommy became acquainted with local businessman and entrepreneur Ray Jones who invited them into his organization with an offer they couldn’t refuse. With his help, Stash House was born.

Stash House Escape Room:

Your group has been invited to a seemingly-normal Koreatown apartment owned by a local entrepreneur to discuss a business opportunity.

Shortly after arriving, you discover the apartment belongs to Ray Jones, notorious Los Angeles drug kingpin, and that Ray has a test in store for you: find all the drugs hidden in the space and flush them before the cops arrive or face the consequences.

Stash House itself, while billed as an escape room experience, is far beyond the conventions of the genre.  Beyond arguably the best use of space in an escape room, Stash House is uniquely suited for experienced players, with multiple concurrent challenges and a myriad of secrets to discover as the narrative of the world unfolds around you.  There is a beautiful blend of character interactivity, innovative puzzles, and a dark comedic undertone that solidifies this as an experience that’s evolved far beyond the norm.

Street Baptism:

Prior to the opening of the escape room, they put on Street Baptism. This was an immersive and interactive three-chapter experience that allowed guests to experience the three most important days of Ray’s life, allowing participants to explore what made Ray the man he is today.

Chapter 1: The Deal:

In Chapter 1, you meet Terry a low level drug deal who needs help negotiating a big score with a powerful Russian Dealer Nikolai. You are there to help Terry distract Nikolai, find the drugs and make it out with all the money. Luckily Nikolai has a weakness for Vodka which you can exploit if you are quick.

Chapter 2: The Hit:

A few years later, you meet Terry again. He has moved his way up the ladder and now needs some help taking out the competition so he can rise even higher.

Chapter 3: The Heist:

Terry now goes by the pseudonym Ray. He runs his own drug empire and has brought you in for another important meeting. However, the meeting is with some undercover federal agents. Which side will you choose? Do you help Ray secure his power and evade arrest or do you work with the agents to bring down Ray’s drug empire. This final chapter had multiple endings based on the choices you made.

While all three chapters involved solving puzzles, the strength in these experiences was the immersive character interactions and the customizable endings.

Give Up the Ghost:

It’s a hot, sticky day down at Midsummer Scream 2018 in Long Beach, and Ray Jones needs our help. We’d met briefly before, when I helped him with some…well…contraband disposal over in Koreatown, but now he’s in a bind.  Through a mutual contact, he tells us he’s trying to make a deal with someone known only as The Ghost—an occult fanatic but as-yet unknown major player of the LA crime scene, and he’s been unable to land his or her trust, and that’s where we come in.  He needs us to do whatever we can to convince The Ghost to form an alliance with him, or his business, and maybe his life, will be in danger.  Ray may not be the paradigm of morality, but he’s a tried and true entrepreneur; so what’s a friend to do?
