More on Rogue Artists Ensemble

Kaidan Project: Walls Grow Thin (2017) was a multi-sensory, site specific experience refracting ancient Japanese ghost stories through a modern, multi-cultural lens, revealing the noise of our histories and the silences that haunt us. The show took place in 10,000 square feet of warehouse space and combined masked and unmasked actors, highly expressive physical performance, interactive sets, multiple puppetry traditions, projected media, sophisticated special effects, and illusions.

Wood Boy Dog Fish (2018)  – Experience the Rogue’s modern macabre retelling of Carlo Collodi’s “The Aventures of Pinocchio.” In this world-premiere play for mature audiences, the cricket is killed, Blue haunts us all, and the legendary Dogfish monster preys on our greatest fears in the tumbledown tourist trap amusement park of Shoreside, where a little wooden puppet comes to life at the hands of the wood-maker Geppetto.

Wood Boy Dog Fish is a visual feast that combines masks, highly expressive physical performance, dance, interactive sets, multiple puppetry traditions, projected media, and sophisticated special effects and illusions – including 3D enhancement to recreate a scene inside an old carnival ride.

Rogue Artists Ensemble, in their own words: “A collective of multi-disciplinary artists who create Hyper-theater, an innovative hybrid of theater traditions, puppetry, mask work, dance, music, and modern technology. Through a collaborative development process, with an emphasis on design and storytelling, the Rogues create original, thought-provoking performances. We cultivate unique audience experiences that appeal to multiple generations of theatergoers in order to expand the boundaries of contemporary American theater.”
