ScareLA 2018 – Suspense to Screams – Unique Voices in Immersive Horror Panel Video

Below is the full panel, Suspense to Screams – Four Unique Voices in Immersive Horror, presented at ScareLA in 2018. Special thanks to Kevin Hsu for filming the panel, and Jon Kobryn for editing it.

From Rogue Artists Ensemble’s folklore-based hyper-theater to Heretic’s visceral brutality to Alone’s surreal and abstract beauty to Santu Production’s awkwardness of life, immersive horror fits under a diverse and wide umbrella. With almost half of the 126 immersive creators producing one or more horror experiences in Los Angeles, horror has been a driving force in the genesis of the Los Angeles immersive scene. Haunting’s founder, Taylor Winters, sits down with some of the biggest names in immersive horror to discuss their inspirations, use of touch, and collaborations. While ScareLA cut the panel noticeably short, it’s still a good watch and a fun time for all!

From the intimate and personal to the elaborate and expansive, immersive horror can use many different forms to scare you during an experience.

Meet four companies that take varied approaches to this art form, but all succeed in haunting you far after an experience has ended. We’ll discuss how they found their voice, what inspires them, and where their line is in immersive horror.

Join us as we talk with Adrian Marcato, creator of the internationally successful extreme haunt Heretic; Devon Paulson and Lawrence Lewis, co-creators of the immersive sensation Alone; Sean Adams, creator of the hilariously dark Santu Deliria and California Occasions; and Chelsea Sutton, playwright of Rogue Artists Ensemble’s smash-hit Kaidan Project: Walls Grow Thin.

Moderated by Taylor Winters, founder of Haunting.net.
