Stanley Haus Haunted Mansion Brings The Disneyland Ride Alive Across their Entire Block

Wyatt Stanley dreams of becoming a Disney Imagineer—and in his work, he deserves to be one. This is immediately apparent upon stepping past the barricades on Oak Ridge Circle, welcoming you into a perfect recreation of Disney’s The Haunted Mansion ride. Circle around as the familiar theme of haunting organs floats through the air and the brilliant lights of greens, blues, and purples transform front yards into parlors and graveyards. Stanley Haus Haunted Mansion is a collaborative effort between all the houses on Oak Ridge Circle in Aliso Viejo.

Stanley Haus  should more aptly be described as a community, as the work of Wyatt Stanley, his family (Dawn and Mike Stanley), and the entire block of Oak Ridge Circle come together to create a full recreation of the Haunted Mansion.  In 2021, Stanley Haus recreated the Pirates of The Caribbean Disney ride, with full replicas of the pirate ship, the treasure room, the red woman, and Skull Rock. Now in 2022, Oak Ridge Circle has taken on the wonderful task of accurately recreating the Haunted Mansion.

While the Stanley family takes point on the design, the entirety of the neighborhood is involved—with eight of the ten houses on the Oak Ridge cul-de-sac participating. With builds starting back in February, the community involves anyone of any age who wants to help. This ensures that the experience of traversing this block feels much like walking the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland itself, as each yard contains a different scene from the famous ride.

Familiar faces, such as the three hitchhiking ghosts, stand in front of an impressive façade of the New Orleans mansion—and even the stretching paintings can be seen through the window. Madame Leota—in a perfect recording from the haunted mansion—recites her lines from her crystal ball as green light from a nearby shades illuminates the claw-footed table. Ghosts dance as a woman is spun by her partner across a dining room scene, illuminated in an otherworldly glow of neon paint and candelight. The hatbox ghost stands on another yard, in front of the famous haunted mansion wallpaper and the ghastly portraits adorning its walls. Constance even welcomes guests from an animated projection. Circle around to the other side to view graveyards filled with undead musicians, headless knights, a funeral scene with someone who just does not want to be buried, singing heads projected onto markers, and of course, the graveyard keeper and his hungry dog.

While this is a yard display—meaning there are no actors or interactive elements—Stanley Haus feels more akin to a walkthrough experience as you traverse the neighborhood witnessing the difference scenes replicated in perfect detail and care. There’s plenty of opportunities to pause and take pictures, show your kids the love and passion put into this experience, or just admire the detail of Stanley Haus’ creation. Plan to spend at least ten to twenty minutes here, because if you aren’t, then there’s details you are missing.

The Stanley Haus Haunted Mansion is incredible—and well worth the visit to it in Aliso Viejo. It’s inspiring to see the work of one family spread to a neighborhood and bring in crowds from all over Southern California to see this work of art. Even Bob Gurr himself—a creator of the Haunted Mansion—came to visit Stanley Haus on his 91st birthday. The Stanley Haus Haunted Mansion is the closest you can get to visiting Disneyland itself.

All proceeds of The Stanley Haus Haunted Mansion are donated to the Dana Point 5th Marine Regiment Support group.

Stanley Haus Haunted Mansion is located at Oak Ridge Cir., Aliso Viejo, CA 92656. For more information about Stanley Haus, checkout their Instagram. For information about similar events, check out our Event Calendar.
