Clowns and Cotton Candy Fog Come Alive in Terror in T-Town Haunt

“Did you say your prayers? And take your vitamins?” The ringmaster asks me as I stand in front of the mouth of a Titan sized clown. I nod and he holds the curtain open, as I step past teeth and tongue and into fog. The sweet scent of cotton candy is almost overpowering as the fog fills the room. And then, through the haze, I see dozens of eyes illuminate, as chuckles echo throughout the circus walls. Terror in T-Town Haunt is a clown focused home haunt in Tustin, CA.

Terror in T-Town Haunt is a walk through home haunt in Tustin, California that innovates on the classic experience with some switch backs, dead ends, and even a white out room in which you must find your way out. The home haunt expertly combines dozens of animatronics with numerous actors to keep audiences on their toes, always wondering which clowns are real and which are not.

The entire theme of Terror in T-Town Haunt is clowns. Every single inch of Terror in T-Town Haunt is jam packed with clowns—animatronic or not. These range from smaller clowns hung from the ceiling that light up and swing back and forth, to mid sized clowns that wear trench coats they pull open to reveal smaller clowns inside, to even massive clowns that span from floor to ceiling like the towering Pennywise recreation. While you may have seen most of these at your local Spirit Halloween or comparable Halloween store, the shear amount of clowns in one place is truly impressive—and terrifying.

Mixed in among the animatronics and the fog are numerous actors dressed in, you guessed it, clown costumes. They expertly lull you into believing they are just another animatronic, only to jump scare you right when you pass. Further, in a carnival room, complete with popcorn maker and numerous games, the actors engage you as if you are truly at their carnival, and your life is the price to play.

One of the best parts of Terror in T-Town Haunt is the innovative flow. Reminiscent of the now defunct Mables’ Six Feet Under, the experience incorporates a wrong way that you have to double back on to find the way out, as well as a massive white out (fog filled) room with two actors inside to yell “wrong way” at you and scare you every time you find yourself lost again. It’s an impressive feat for a home haunt and found us very pleasantly surprised.
