James Bernard Discusses the Evolution of Extreme Horror at the Castle of Chaos – Video Interview
With years of experience in the haunted house realm, James Bernard expanded Castle of Chaos from a family-friendly haunt to an extreme immersive horror destination. Tucked away in the city of Midvale Utah, this location boasts a year-round haunted house, five escape rooms, and an overnight, five-leveled extreme haunt entitled The Crucible. Bernard and team customize the extreme version to each guest, offering them personalized levels of intensity, a strong narrative, and even an option to remove the safeword.
At Midsummer Scream, Haunting had the chance to sit down with Bernard and talk to him about his Level 5 Extreme Haunt, the safety behind it, and what it’s like to run an immersive horror experience out of a year-round haunted house.

I’ve done the Castle of Chaos overnight extreme haunt. Although I did not finish, I never once felt unsafe and the actors were very professional. I would highly recommend it.
