Underrated Horror Games You Can Play Online Today

Alongside attending various spine-chilling events on the calendar and watching a wide range of classic movies, horror fanatics also tend to play a variety of horror-themed games. In fact, over the years we’ve been treated to some iconic games in this area, with titles like Silent Hill, Alan Wake, and Doom recording notable success.

These days, though, the games we can access on numerous platforms are more detailed and more graphically advanced than we’ve ever known before. For horror gamers, this has resulted in a more realistic gaming offering that produces even more chilling moments. Some of the detail in specific products is stunning, while the storylines and various protagonists in certain titles create even more intrigue. Sometimes we’re only exposed to the biggest games in what is a well-liked genre, though.

So, with that in mind, let’s take a brief look at some underrated horror games that can be played online today.

SOMA deserves far more attention

While SOMA has a loyal community behind it, it isn’t massive. Given the game’s sci-fi horror offering, it should certainly receive far more attention. Accessible on prominent platforms like Steam, the title is set deep in the Atlantic Ocean and tasks gamers with surviving and thriving in the most terrifying of circumstances. From its intense gore to its disturbing revelations the further you advance in the game, SOMA is a release that horror enthusiasts will surely adore.

Condemned: Criminal Origins is an oldie but a goodie

A title that deserves to receive more love than it initially did when it was released in 2005, if you can get your hands on a copy of Condemned: Criminal Origins, then you definitely won’t be disappointed. Accessible on Windows and Xbox 360, this first-person action and survival horror title has gone under the radar a bit, but it doesn’t deserve to be ignored, given the scary serial killer that is featured throughout.

Blood Suckers is filled with spookiness

Alongside online casino staples like roulette, poker, and blackjack games, gamers can also play a plethora of horror-themed slots. Blood Suckers is a title that immediately stands out, with this vampire-themed slasher from NetEnt offering plenty of scares. The options don’t end there, though, with many leading online casino sites hosting a range of other spine-chilling products. For example, the tomb-raiding Book of Dead by Play N’ Go is considered as one of the most popular slots of all time, while Vikings Go to Hell is a release where Norse mythology and horror combine to create a truly excellent game.

Tormented Souls is well worth a look

Although the game contains some truly nerve-wracking scenes, it’s almost impossible not to be captivated by Tormented Souls and its enthralling narrative. A survival horror game with a difference, players investigate the mysterious disappearance of twin girls in a terrifying mansion-turned-hospital that isn’t what it initially seems to be. From the game’s excellent character development and its superb environmental design to its strong gameplay and the various puzzles that players have to crack under pressure, Tormented Souls is well worth a look.

White Noise 2 is a multiplayer horror gem

Playable on leading platforms like PC, PS4, and Xbox One, White Noise 2 is a hidden gem that warrants a gaming marathon. In the title, players join forces although they have slightly different objectives. One player takes on the role of a terrifying monster, while the other players are aiming to survive against the various attacks that come their way while investigating a series of horrors that continually take place. For passionate horror gamers, White Noise 2 is the game for them.
