• The feature of possession pops up when Agatha is possessed by her mother, Evanora Harkness. It happens when her spirit was summoned by the coven during an eerie Ouija board session, and Evanora Harkness overtakes Agatha and forces her to turn on her allies and kill one of them, Alice Wu-Gulliver. This sequence directly references similar films like The Exorcist (1973) and the Evil Dead franchise. 
• The strained relationships between Agatha and her mother echo the tense and often dysfunctional family drama seen in many horror films.
• The revenge from beyond the grave depiction is another interesting classical horror representation. It is not just a metaphor but a literal plot point, as the dead are called upon to pass judgment on the living. For instance, Agatha’s confrontation with her mother’s spirit, which holds her accountable for past crimes, especially the murder of her coven, comes from the idea that one’s dark past can come back to haunt them.

Surprising Character Reveal

The Character of Billy Maximoff (Wiccan) plays a significant role in the series. The son of Wanda Maximoff, a Scarlet Witch, his presence adds an extra layer of horror. He is portrayed as a young man who initially seems loyal to Agatha and is eager to join her coven on the Witches’ Road.

Another key reference in Agatha All Along is Nicholas Scratch. He is the son of Agatha Harkness and is deeply rooted in Marvel’s supernatural lore in the comics. His deep connection to the occult and strained relationship with his mother, Agatha, creates a similarity with horror narratives that entail familial conflict and betrayal.

While his character has not yet fully emerged in the MCU, we were teased with his involvement with the Ouija board.
