The Most Haunted Places in Las Vegas
Las Vegas, the City of Lights, is not the sort of place you might visit if you are hunting real, genuine frights and scares.
Its streets are lined with attractions such as Haunts’ Asylum and Hotel Fear, which give you the experience of fear in a manufactured and thoroughly ‘Vegas’ way, but if you want to get away from the gambling and have already learned the layout of French roulette, then what of the genuinely haunted spots around town? In a city that never sleeps, built up from 1905 onwards, are there really places to find apparitions and spirits that can chill you to the bone.
The answer, it may surprise you to hear, is yes, 100%. From the stereotypical troubled souls to a few altogether more famous faces, there are plenty of darkened corners of this vibrant and noisy city where fear and dread will steal you away in an instant.
Westgate Hotel and Resort
It is likely that when you stay in Vegas, you will reside at one of the plush hotels or resorts, complete with a casino, live shows and all the other trapping of this unique location. You may choose to stay at the Westgate Hotel and, if you do, you might run into a rather famous face, long-since departed. KNTV.com reports that Elvis Presley has been seen around the place after living there for years whilst he performed his Vegas shows. He has been seen around the Tuscany Suite, once the Elvis suite, as well as multiple other locations.
Red Rock Canyon
Whilst Vegas might be busy, vibrant and alive all day and night, a short car ride can take you to some of the most beautiful desert on earth. Stepping away from the madness of Sin City to the serenity and beauty of Red Rock Canyon is something an article on things to do in Vegas by Poker.org, suggest doing when you are in town but even that won’t get you away from the ghouls and ghosts. The Bonnie Springs Ranch is perhaps the most famous location to harbor malevolent spirits, with plenty of tales of disruption coming out of their rather scary old wax museum.
La Palazza Mansion
La Palazza is nicknamed ‘The Devil’ Mansion’, and it will have seen plenty of horror over its lifetime. It was once owned by notorious mob enforcer Tony ‘The Ant’ Spilotro, and it holds many dark secrets that it may never give up. It may even be that some of the more aggressive spirits remain there to this day, with female visitors often insulted in the shower with nobody else present. One owner even felt hands choking them after they allegedly provoked the ghosts by challenging them following a mysterious wine glass breakage.
Bally’s
The tragedy of the MGM fire in 1980 saw the casino renamed Bally’s, in an attempt to shed its reputation, but to this day people staying there report odd sensations. One of the most overwhelming is the smell of smoke in the North Tower, and the sounds of screaming coming from the halls late at night. There is even a report of one lady playing two slot machines at once on the casino floor, whose dress suddenly goes up in flames. She disappears whenever anyone approaches her, but the stories are a frightening reminder of the horror and tragedy once seen on the site.
