The Haunted Mansion Haunt Dares You to Walk Through this Disney-Themed Haunted House

The Haunted Mansion Haunt is a walkthrough haunt experience, mirroring that of the famous Disneyland ride that spans a sizable footprint through their garage, both side yards, and backyard. The experience can take anywhere from ten to fifteen minutes to traverse, with areas in which you will stop and a small scene will play out, like the famous stretching room. The effects are practical, and the detail here is truly impressive. This is a love letter to the Haunted Mansion and an exceptional recreation of the ride experience.

One highlight of The Haunted Mansion Haunt is its theatrical beginning in the garage, in which guests file into the manor—and then into the stretching room. While the paintings inside do not stretch like the ride itself, the ceiling does. With some wonderful practical effects, the ceiling shifts and wobbles, rising up (and down), threatening not just to stretch—but also to fall onto the inhabitants inside. It’s a fun adaptation of the ride. This ends with a surprising scare using some lights, scare actors, and scrim. An absolute treat and sets the tone nicely.

The remainder of the experience shifts between tight corridors of darkness, illuminated only by changing paintings, Madame Leota’s crystal ball, and the neon glow of a toothy clock, and the open-air graveyard outside.

In the mansion itself, the tight corridors mirror that of the ride, but allow for a few more scares as horror-masked servants navigate the hallway through trapdoors while your group navigates the space.

The side yard of The Haunted Mansion Haunt serves as the attic, in which the Hatbox Ghost and Constance stand as perfect recreations, down to the littlest detail. Mirrors, gloves, perfume bottles, and pictures adorn this space, showcasing truly the amount of time and love that the creators put into this haunt.

As the path snakes into the back, the cemetery comes to life with minstrels playing their tune as ghosts dance around, emerging from their graves to join the festivities. The scene is impressive—as is the view from this home’s backyard.

The experience ends with a trip through the darkness and an absolute perfect recreation of Little Leota, who delivers her lines as exceptionally as she does in the park: “Hurry Back! Hurry Back! Be sure to bring your death certificate, if you decide to join us. Make final arrangements now. We’ve been dying… to have you.” The projection of the face onto this doll is incredible and impressed our entire group. I even zoomed in with my phone to see the detail and it’s perfectly aligned to the voice.

The Haunted Mansion Haunt in Trabuco Canyon is a wonderful homage to the Disneyland ride. It captures the spirit of the ride so perfectly, and even adds some elements that make it a little scarier than the actual ride itself—more apt for a Halloween haunt walkthrough. But it never crosses a line that would make it too scary for a family to appreciate. We love the passion showcased here—and the absolutely incredible detail that manifests in every single prop, figure, and scene throughout Haunted Mansion Haunt. Make this a must see this year—there’s always room for one more.

The Haunted Mansion Haunt is located at 28322 Millwood Rd, Trabuco Canyon, CA 92679, near Lake Forest CA. There is a fast-pass line that costs $10 or a normal line that is free to all who want to experience the haunted house. While you’re down in South Orange County, add Stanley Haus to your list and experience two of the best Haunted Mansion experiences in the world.
