Shock Theater Reveals A Love of Photography with Eye For Horror
Since 2013 Shock Theater, a New York-based art collective specializing in adult-themed immersive horror experiences have brought terror to willing participants throughout the tri-state area year round. Responsible for one of the top 10 most extreme horror experiences in America, Dead of Night, Shock Theater takes immersive horror to another level with their latest experience EYE FOR HORROR.
EYE FOR HORROR is an interactive play based on two photographers who are attempting to capture moments of horror in real time. Using sketchy fake Craigslist ads, luring their “victims” to locations and taking them on a journey through intense scenes they participate in and documenting it all from a camera lens. This will be the first interactive horror show in New York that utilizes theater, photography, mock torture and death to capture the last images of a person’s “life” as it happens.
Shock Theater Co-Founder Will Puntarich spoke about the show saying “Consider this a live-action found footage film sorta- I’ve been taking horror themed photos for the last two years now, practicing cinematography all while doing immersive horror and haunted houses. This is just a merging of time and passion for those things but, something uniquely different than anything else out there”
Puntarich is working with New York-based photographer and creator of Women of Armageddon, Michael Zinn. This will be Zinn’s first time collaborating on an immersive horror experience saying “EYE FOR HORROR is something completely new for me. As an artist, I am always trying to engage viewer’s tactile senses and even provoke a thought or two… But with this new immersive experience, I am excited to create experimental entertainment and engage an even more acute sense – the moment of now”
Guests of EYE FOR HORROR will walk away safely from the experience but with photos and a video to remember it, photos will also be made public on the Shock Theater Facebook page and a dedicated Instagram gallery.
Willing participants must be 18 years of age or older to go through the experience which last roughly around an hour and 30 minutes.
Time slots will be made available to the public after February 11th, 2018.
