HAUNTED ADVENTURE (CLOSED)
Haunted Adventure is a fun, scrappy haunt taking place at the Starlight Bowl in Burbank, and sponsored by the city’s Department of Parks and Recreation. It features a massive team of scare actors, both children and adults, and takes guests on a surprisingly long journey through an enormous space.

Burbank’s Haunted Adventure is more than just a haunt – it’s a community event that features an extensive haunted maze, food trucks, snacks, and carnival games. Even after running for more than two decades, it’s an often overlooked production, but a highly enjoyable one thanks to the enthusiasm of its young scare actors. The Parks department welcomes any and all volunteers for the production, and the team is absolutely enormous. Throughout the surprisingly long walkthrough experience, one might encounter upwards of 100 costumed characters. Notably, the crew does a nice job of including a bit of story in the maze – each year features a different theme ranging from a cursed summer camp to childhood nightmares.
This is a very family friendly haunt, with most of the scares coming at a comfortable distance. It is mostly decorated with store-bought props, and you are sure to encounter almost every iconic horror character from the last few decades – often, more than one of each. There is quite a lot of walking involved, as visitors weave in and out of the Starlight Bowl. There are several sets of stairs on the way, and just getting to the entrance of the haunt requires a short but steep uphill hike. For those reasons, it may not be ideal for those with mobility issues. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult, while children under 6 will not be allowed entry at all. The show typically runs for a small handful of dates, often in the middle of October, making it convenient for haunt fans whose Halloween week is fully booked. Parking is also convenient, as there is a large lot in the Stough Canyon Park area that leads to the entrance of the event. Lines can get long, though not unbearably so – still, arriving early is recommended.
Haunted Adventure is a great addition to the San Fernando Valley haunt scene, and provides a valuable service for young people interested in any type of entertainment production. Though it is not always included in haunt guides, its atmosphere is warm and infectious, and is a worthwhile detour for any haunt fan in the area.
