Castaic Lake's Annual Haunted Hike: The Forbidden Trail

Decades ago, a small, close-knit community near these woods was shattered when an entire family vanished without a trace. Despite frantic search efforts, only their scattered belongings were found, untouched and eerily abandoned. Witnesses swore they heard terrified screams echoing from the forest that night, but when the searchers ventures into the woods, they found nothing – no footprints, no signed of struggle, on any unsettling silence.

According to local folklore, the forest is haunted by a malevolent entity known as the Shadow Weaver. This sinister figure is said to lure unsuspecting into a labyrinth of darkness where even the faintest light cannot penetrate. They say the forest itself consumed the missing family, pulling them into the abyss where their cries were swallowed by the night. Some believe their restless spirits still wander, forever lost and searching for a way out. But others whisper in hushed tones that the Shadow Weaver has trapped them in his web, ensuring they can never escape – and it still hungers for more.

First hike starts at 6:45pm and the final hike is at 9:30pm. Hike is limited to a max 6 per group. Groups are welcomed, as there is safety in numbers.

The hike is 3/4 of a mile long and lasts about 45-60 minutes. The terrain is moderate with mild elevation, so be sure to wear comfortable walking or hiking shoes.
