DRENCROM Provides a Cinematic Chromophobic Experience by Adrian Marcato
It’s no surprise to our readers that Heretic is one of our favorite experiences on the market today. Creator, Adrian Marcato, expertly blends horrifically beautiful aesthetics and cinematic moments with extreme terror and physicality that pushes guests to their limits. His narratives are a fever dreams that spawn nightmares that live in the flesh. These range from driving a lone road deep into the desert to disappear to living a horror movie in an overnight stay at the cabin to following the knife of a killer as it changes hands. Yet, Marcato’s newest endeavor does not fall under the Heretic name; instead, he is teaming up with a man clouded in mystery called Empyreum, for a project known only as DRENCROM.
DRENCROM is described as “adrenaline-based experiential version of altered reality. A new vision that will explore maladjustment and fragility. A host that leads guests into the roles of broken people.” It promises to shed the extreme violence that is a staple of Heretic shows (but not completely) to create a much more evocative and visceral experience. This difference is already clear just from the instagram. Viewing the page reveals bright colors, drugs, and warped visuals. One image is even captioned “colors and suffocation.” For extreme haunt fans out there, this is a breath of fresh air from the dark color palette adopted by most. Keep reading for more information on the experience.
We received the following from Marcato for release:
A new vision of obsession from the creator of H E R E T I C Adrian Marcato and a secret partner that is a known musician in the underground. This experience subtracts the well known physical violence Heretic is known for and attempts to create experiences that deal with love, obsession, chromophobia and self destruction. There are “horror” elements that can be accessed within an experience but it is not within every simulation. Do not take this show lightly there will be very dark themes and take guests to unexpected places.
Currently there is only an Instagram page @a_drencrom and no plans for a website. Instead of delivering information about shows via the normal routes Marcato has plans for guests to attend an orientation. Guests still must be 21 and sign a waiver and answer questions about current physical conditions.
DRENCROM is currently beta testing. Sign up for the November betas begins Wednesday October 4th. The instagram page will provide more information on that date. And if you’d like to read more about Marcato’s other project, Heretic, check out their company page for a list of all reviews and recollections/walkthroughs.
